Ever since I can remember, I wanted to be a teacher! Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with biology and strayed from my original career trajectory to immerse myself in science. I completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Monash University in Australia, and then continued on to do an Honours year and doctoral studies in Physiology. My research was fascinating: looking at how the fetus grows and develops before it is born. I continued on to do a post-doctoral research position, but during this time became more and more excited about teaching and subsequently enrolled in a Diploma of Education. I am now employed as a lecturer at Monash University, a position which I enjoy! I am surrounded by colleagues who are performing cutting-edge research and I am able to pass this knowledge and enthusiasm on to students. That’s why I love BioEYES! What an amazing opportunity to be able to take real science out to students in the classroom! I love seeing students engage and reignite their sense of wonderment. I believe that being involved in BioEYES, whether it is as a student, teacher or outreach educator, makes you appreciate the amazing science that is inherent in nature. It definitely has for me!

Science is something that I have always had a deep passion for, but more specifically in how the human body works. It was my past sporting experience that led me into this desire to study the human body, and so I continued my science studies to University. I completed a Bachelor of Science at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia with a major in physiology. The next year I undertook a Graduate Diploma of Education in Secondary Teaching. This degree opened my eyes even more to the satisfaction and reward that came with educating students. It was this combination of science and teaching that made me realise that I found my perfect career! Since starting with BioEYES I have developed a true love for science education. I want my passion for science to excite and motivate students to enquire and investigate all that science has to offer, and BioEYES is a fantastic way of showing how extraordinary and amazing science and biology is.
